Peru has achieved significant success in its agricultural export sector, with fresh mandarin exports increasing by 32% in 2024. As of October 28, the country exported 210.66 million kilograms of mandarins, up from 159.65 million kilograms during the same period in 2023. This marks the highest export volume in recent years, surpassing the previous record set in 2022.
This growth is attributed to increased productivity rather than expanding the number of plantations. By improving the efficiency of existing orchards, Peru has been able to boost its export volumes significantly.
The Ica region has been a major contributor to this increase, accounting for more than half of total mandarin exports, with a 37.5% growth in shipments this year. Lima has also seen a significant increase, with exports rising by 42.7%.
International demand for Peru’s mandarins has remained strong, with North America being the largest market, followed by Europe, Latin America, and Asia. The strong export performance underscores the growing recognition of Peru’s high-quality agricultural products and its expanding role in global trade.
Peru’s success in boosting mandarin exports highlights the positive impact of increased productivity and expanding international market reach, driving growth in the agricultural trade sector.
