Peru is strengthening its presence in global trade by expanding agricultural exports to China, further solidifying its role in the dynamic Asia-Pacific market. Recent shipments of high-demand products such as pecans, chestnuts, frozen avocados, mangoes, and frozen blueberries showcase Peru’s commitment to diversifying and growing its trade portfolio.

President Dina Boluarte, speaking with CCTV-13, highlighted the deep-rooted economic and diplomatic ties between Peru and China, which have flourished for more than five decades. She also pointed to China’s remarkable development, particularly Shenzhen’s evolution from a fishing port to a global technological hub, as an inspiring model for Peru’s own economic aspirations.

During the APEC Economic Leaders Week in Lima, Peru took strategic steps to enhance its agricultural export capacity. Ángel Manero, head of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI), announced significant progress in gaining approval for pomegranate exports and outlined plans to introduce pitahaya, cherry, and blueberry seedlings by 2025. The upcoming inauguration of the Chancay port promises to streamline trade logistics, reducing shipping costs and paving the way for increased exports of chicken and other agricultural goods to China.

President Boluarte emphasized the pivotal role of the APEC forum in showcasing Peru’s reliability as a trade partner. The platform has opened doors for greater collaboration, investment opportunities, and international partnerships, positioning Peru as a key contributor to regional and global trade initiatives.

By leveraging its natural resources, innovative strategies, and robust trade agreements, Peru is poised to deepen its economic ties with China and enhance its competitiveness in the global market.
