Uzbekistan is taking significant steps to support small farmers and enhance agricultural exports through newly approved initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has introduced a strategic plan to advance agricultural development, focusing on increasing fruit production and ensuring higher export potential.
The Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction will oversee efforts to optimize crop production, improve seed quality, expand greenhouse construction, and promote efficient farming practices. These measures will strengthen the agricultural sector and drive sustainable growth.
A newly established agricultural council will play a crucial role in assisting small-scale farmers in producing high-quality, export-ready products. Uzbekistan aims to increase the cultivation of key fruits such as apricots, grapes, peaches, cherries, apples, pears, and lemons to meet growing international demand.
To further enhance exports, Uzbekistan will implement quality standards to ensure that at least 75% of small farms and leased agricultural lands comply with global market requirements. Successful farming practices from key agricultural regions will be scaled nationwide to enhance productivity and competitiveness.
The government is also supporting businesses in entering international markets by establishing export-driven agricultural enterprises. These companies will focus on creating strong national agri-brands and improving product quality to attract global buyers.
Financial assistance will be made available for farmers investing in modern farming technologies and greenhouse infrastructure. Additionally, new credit and leasing programs will be introduced to facilitate the development of small and medium-sized agricultural logistics centers, ensuring efficient storage and transportation of farm products.
A ranking system will be launched to recognize top-performing farms, greenhouses, and farming communities, encouraging efficiency and innovation. This initiative aims to promote excellence in agriculture and further strengthen Uzbekistan’s position in global trade.
Starting March 1, tax regulations for selling agricultural products to exporters will be simplified. Electronic records submitted to tax authorities will now be accepted as official receipts, streamlining export processes and making it easier for farmers to access international markets.
