Ukraine is expecting a notable uptick in electricity exports on Monday, with projected exports almost doubling in comparison to imports. This surge is attributed to unusually warm weather, as confirmed by the energy ministry.
Following the events of 2022, Ukraine temporarily halted significant electricity exports due to security concerns surrounding attacks on its power infrastructure and other factors. However, with improved conditions and decreased consumption levels, Ukraine is now positioned to resume substantial energy exports.
The energy ministry has outlined plans for electricity imports of 1,243 MWh on the current day, in addition to anticipated exports totaling up to 2,140 MWh to Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Moldova.
Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko recently indicated to Reuters that the country could potentially resume significant energy exports as early as this spring. This highlights Ukraine’s potential to contribute to regional energy markets.
The International Trade Council remains vigilant in monitoring developments in Ukraine’s energy sector, recognizing the country’s importance in the global energy landscape and its potential to bolster regional energy security through increased exports.
