Poland has solidified its position as a global leader in apple exports, with significant contributions to Egypt’s growing demand for high-quality European produce. During the 2022/2023 season, Egypt imported 158,754 tons of apples from Europe, valued at €71.785 million. Of this, Poland accounted for 37.7% of the value, exporting 76,907 tons worth €31.819 million.

This achievement highlights Poland’s pivotal role in European fruit trade and its ability to meet the surging demand from Middle Eastern markets. Italy and Greece followed Poland as top exporters, while Hungary and Austria added to the diverse trade contributions.

Poland’s global reputation as a top apple producer is further cemented by its annual production of over 3.8 million tons, making it a leader alongside Italy and France in the European Union. The success of Polish apples in Egypt exemplifies how strategic trade relationships and high-quality agricultural standards can drive international market expansion.

Speaking at the “Time for European Apples” campaign, industry leader Mirosław Maliszewski highlighted the adaptability of European fruit growers in meeting evolving global demands. He also emphasized the sector’s focus on sustainability and innovation, ensuring that European apples continue to set the standard for quality in international markets.

Poland’s leadership in this sector demonstrates the power of agricultural trade in fostering economic growth and strengthening international partnerships, with the Middle East emerging as a key destination for European exports.
