The Philippine pineapple industry is on an upward trajectory, with global exports reaching approximately USD 787.12 million in 2024—a 7.5% increase from the previous year, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.

China remained the top destination, importing USD 183.43 million worth of pineapples and related products. The Department of Agriculture (DA) anticipates continued expansion, with production expected to rise to 3.12 million metric tons (MT) this year from 2.9 million MT in 2023.

Assistant Secretary Arnel de Mesa highlighted a projected yield of 44 MT per hectare, driven by strong demand from China and Europe. The government remains committed to supporting pineapple growers through technology, machinery, and research initiatives, with a particular focus on organic production as a growing market segment.

Nearly 24,000 farmers across the country contribute to the thriving pineapple sector, with Mindanao serving as the primary production hub.
