New Zealand’s fruit export sector has seen impressive growth, with kiwifruit playing a major role in driving this success. According to the latest data from Stats NZ, the country’s fruit exports in October 2024 were up 314% compared to the same month in 2023. The total value of fruit exports for the month reached NZ$188 million (€104.9 million), with kiwifruit contributing a significant NZ$146 million (€81.4 million), marking a 1,078% increase from the previous year.

This remarkable growth has been fueled by strong demand in key international markets such as Australia, China, and Japan. Exports to these countries saw substantial increases of NZ$17 million, NZ$20 million, and NZ$45 million, respectively. These figures reflect the growing global appetite for high-quality, fresh produce from New Zealand, highlighting the country’s expanding presence in the global trade of fruit.

As the 2024 season draws to a close, New Zealand’s kiwifruit exports have reached new heights, with the total export value increasing by NZ$1.0 billion (€557.8 million), or 43%, compared to 2023. The growth is a positive sign of New Zealand’s continued leadership in the global fruit market, as the country strengthens its position as a key supplier of premium produce worldwide.

This boost in kiwifruit exports not only reflects the high demand for fresh fruit but also demonstrates New Zealand’s ability to meet the needs of diverse markets, fostering continued growth and opportunities in global trade.
