Kazakhstan is making significant progress in strengthening its position as a key player in global agricultural trade, achieving a remarkable 51% growth in grain exports from September to November, compared to the same period last year. The nation’s railway company, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), played a vital role in facilitating the transportation of 2.9 million tons of grain to meet growing international demand.
The surge in exports showcases Kazakhstan’s ability to adapt to market needs and establish stronger trade relationships. Central Asian countries saw a 35% increase in imports, while Afghanistan experienced a notable 58% rise. Iran’s imports soared to 356,000 tons, a substantial leap from 14,000 tons in 2023. Exports to China reached 445,000 tons, and Azerbaijan emerged as a promising new market with 104,000 tons shipped in just two months.
KTZ also achieved a record-breaking performance in November, transporting over 1.4 million tons of grain in a single month. This included grain for export as well as 350,000 tons dedicated to domestic needs, ensuring balanced supply for both international markets and local flour mills, poultry farms, and processing facilities.
By efficiently managing resources and ensuring uninterrupted operations, Kazakhstan is positioning itself as a reliable partner in global grain trade. This growth not only reflects the nation’s agricultural strength but also its commitment to fostering international trade relationships and driving economic development.
