Kazakhstan continues to bolster its role as a key agricultural exporter, recording an impressive fivefold increase in potato exports to Turkmenistan from January to August 2024. According to the country’s statistical office, Turkmenistan imported 17,500 tons of Kazakh potatoes during this period, solidifying its place as a significant trade partner in the region.
This growth reflects the strengthening trade relationships between Central Asian neighbors. Uzbekistan remains the top importer of Kazakh potatoes with 252,300 tons, followed by Tajikistan at 34,000 tons, with Turkmenistan now securing the third position.
Overall, Kazakhstan exported 305,400 tons of potatoes to global markets during the reported period, generating $32.7 million in revenue—an impressive 2.6-fold increase compared to the same timeframe in 2023. This surge in exports highlights Kazakhstan’s growing reputation as a reliable supplier in agricultural trade.
The expanding trade partnerships underscore Kazakhstan’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and fostering economic growth through agricultural exports.
