Georgia’s agricultural sector is seeing impressive growth, particularly in its kiwi exports to Japan. In the first 10 months of 2024, the country exported 264 tons of kiwi to Japan, marking a 69% increase compared to the entire year of 2023. This surge in exports positions Georgia among the top four kiwi suppliers to Japan, alongside established exporters like New Zealand, Chile, and the United States.

Japan, known for its strict quality standards, presents a significant market for high-quality agricultural products, and Georgia’s success in this market reflects the country’s growing role in global trade. The rise in kiwi exports to Japan highlights Georgia’s expanding presence in international markets and its potential for continued growth in the agricultural export sector.

The Georgian Kiwi Producers Association, which includes 114 farmers and oversees 70 hectares of kiwi plantations, has been a key driver of this growth. As the association works to further enhance the quality of its produce, Georgia’s reputation as a reliable agricultural exporter is strengthening.

Key players like Nergeta, managing 30 hectares of kiwi plantations, continue to make strides in expanding Georgia’s reach in Japan and other international markets, such as Germany. Their efforts underscore the importance of sustainable farming practices and strategic international partnerships.

With increasing demand for Georgian kiwi, the country’s agricultural sector is poised to expand its footprint in global markets, driving economic growth and fostering strong trade relations.
