Georgia’s Ministry of Economy announced on Tuesday its plans to export 500 tonnes of blueberries to the European Union and the United Kingdom as part of a strategic initiative aimed at expanding international market opportunities for local producers. According to Agenda.ge, a significant portion of the blueberry shipment has already been sent to these key export markets.

The initiative, known as the Lead Generation Programme, is a collaborative effort involving Enterprise Georgia, a state agency focused on promoting entrepreneurship, investment, and exports, along with support from the United States Agency for International Development’s Agriculture Programme and Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture’s Rural Development Agency.

CEO Mikheil Khidureli of Enterprise Georgia highlighted the success of the initiative, noting the substantial increase in blueberry exports facilitated through the programme. He emphasized the potential for Georgian entrepreneurs to capitalize on these opportunities, stating, “This initiative offers a valuable platform for local producers to establish fruitful partnerships and secure favorable trade agreements.”

This initiative underscores Georgia’s commitment to strengthening its agricultural export capabilities and enhancing its presence in global markets.
