Egypt’s agricultural exports surged to 5.2 million tonnes in the first half of 2025, reinforcing the country’s growing role as a reliable supplier of high-quality produce in the global market. The latest figures from the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation highlight citrus fruits and potatoes as the top-performing exports, contributing significantly to this milestone.
According to the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine, citrus exports reached approximately 1.8 million tonnes, while potato shipments totaled 1.2 million tonnes. These results underscore the continued global demand for Egyptian produce and the country’s commitment to quality and food safety standards.
Other key export products included 168,000 tonnes of fresh onions, 136,000 tonnes of fresh and dry beans, and 103,000 tonnes of sweet potatoes. Fresh grapes, strawberries, garlic, tomatoes, guavas, and pomegranates also added to the strong performance of Egypt’s diversified agricultural portfolio.
Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk praised the export sector’s contribution to the national economy, noting that “Egypt’s adherence to international quality benchmarks is instrumental in gaining access to new markets and sustaining long-term trade partnerships.”
He emphasized that the government continues to support exporters by removing trade barriers, expanding technical assistance, and investing in regulatory oversight to ensure consistent product quality from farm to market.
The success of Egypt’s agricultural export system is attributed to the joint efforts of farmers, exporters, researchers, and agricultural engineers working under a unified vision to enhance competitiveness and market trust.
With continued investment in agricultural development, market access, and export facilitation, Egypt is well-positioned to expand its trade footprint and strengthen its role as a leading exporter in the region.
