Brazil is set to solidify its position as a leader in global chicken exports, with projections indicating an increase of 100,000 tonnes (2%) in 2025. This growth comes as the global chicken export market is expected to rebound, reaching a record 13.8 million tonnes after two years of stagnation. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) predicts a more modest increase of 40,000 tonnes (1%) for the U.S. market during the same period.

The anticipated growth for Brazil can be attributed to a combination of factors, including its status as a disease-free producer, an export-oriented approach, diverse product offerings, and competitive pricing. These elements have allowed Brazil to expand its share of the global chicken market, capitalizing on opportunities created by shifting trade dynamics.

A significant advantage for Brazil is its ability to maintain a strong export presence without the trade restrictions faced by some competitors. For instance, Brazil has successfully navigated challenges related to avian influenza, ensuring that its production and trade remain robust. With a remarkable 22% increase in chicken exports reported in September, Brazil’s exports have shown a consistent upward trend.

Brazil directs approximately 33% of its chicken production to international markets, demonstrating its commitment to meeting global demand. Unlike the U.S., which primarily exports frozen legs and leg quarters, Brazil offers a diverse range of products, including breast meat, whole birds, and deboned items. This versatility positions Brazil favorably in key markets such as Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.

Moreover, Brazil benefits from its status as a leading producer of corn and soybean meal, resulting in lower feed costs for chicken production. While the U.S. also has competitive feed supplies, Brazil’s lower overall production costs enable it to offer high-value products competitively on the international stage.

As Brazil gears up for continued growth in its chicken exports, the country stands ready to enhance its role in the global trade landscape. This optimistic outlook not only underscores Brazil’s resilience but also highlights its ability to adapt to changing market conditions, ensuring that it remains a pivotal player in the international chicken export arena.
