Egypt’s thriving agricultural trade has reached new heights, as frozen strawberry exports to Brazil soared 30-fold over the past five years. By the end of 2024, over 30,000 tons of frozen strawberries, valued at $27 million, were shipped to Brazil, setting a historic benchmark for the sector.
This exceptional growth underscores Egypt’s strategic position in global trade. The country’s consistent efforts since 2018 to expand its export footprint have transformed it into the top supplier of frozen strawberries to Brazil, capturing nearly 90% of the market by 2024.
The rising demand for frozen strawberries in Brazil, fueled by increasing consumer preferences, has opened the door for Egypt’s premium-quality products to dominate the market. From small-scale shipments of just 2.5 tons in 2005 to becoming Brazil’s primary supplier, Egypt has demonstrated the value of long-term trade planning and market adaptation.
Key factors driving this success include year-round exports and the ability to meet peak demand periods from April to August. May 2024 marked a record month for shipments, highlighting the steady growth trajectory of Egypt’s agricultural exports.
Egypt’s achievement is not limited to frozen strawberries. The nation has also expanded its trade portfolio, increasing exports of oranges, mandarins, and garlic to Brazil. This diversified approach reflects Egypt’s commitment to strengthening global trade partnerships and delivering quality products worldwide.
By capitalizing on robust international trade agreements and cultivating strategic markets, Egypt continues to solidify its leadership in the agricultural export sector.
