Egypt has achieved remarkable growth in its food export sector, recording a 15.7% increase in the week ending November 22, according to a recent Cabinet report. Export volumes reached 162,000 tons, showcasing Egypt’s diverse offerings of over 680 types of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other food products.
Vegetables led the charge with 60 varieties accounting for nearly 40,000 tons of exports. Sweet potatoes were the top performer at 12,000 tons, followed by onions with 10,000 tons and beans with 6,000 tons. Fruit exports, comprising 34 varieties, totaled 35,000 tons, with citrus fruits dominating at 10,000 tons. Mangoes and strawberries also made significant contributions, exporting 6,000 tons and 5,000 tons, respectively.
Egypt’s agricultural exports reached 172 countries, underscoring the global appeal of its fresh produce. Key markets included Saudi Arabia, Sudan, the United States, and other high-demand destinations, reflecting the country’s growing reputation for quality and reliability in international trade.
This export growth highlights Egypt’s ability to meet global food demands while positioning itself as a competitive player in the agricultural export market. With a robust supply chain and diverse product range, Egypt continues to strengthen its role as a vital contributor to global trade.
