Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector has reached a significant milestone in 2024, with the country achieving its largest-ever melon and gourd harvest. The Agency of Statistics under the President of Uzbekistan reports that the harvest exceeded 1.7 million tons, reflecting a 6.7% increase over the previous year.
This surge in production highlights Uzbekistan’s growing strength in agricultural trade, with the country’s agricultural exports surpassing $1 billion in the first nine months of 2024. Over 157,200 tons of fruits and vegetables were exported, marking an 11.8% increase in trade volume compared to the previous year. This growth reflects the rising global demand for Uzbek agricultural products and underscores the country’s position as an important player in the international trade market.
Uzbekistan’s key trade partners include Kazakhstan, which imported 433,600 tons of fruits and vegetables, and Pakistan, purchasing 100,900 tons. These figures demonstrate the increasing appeal of Uzbek produce in neighboring markets and beyond, reinforcing the importance of agricultural exports to the country’s overall trade strategy.
The record melon harvest, paired with the growing export figures, underscores Uzbekistan’s commitment to expanding its agricultural industry and enhancing trade relationships worldwide. As the country continues to boost its agricultural output and strengthen its global trade ties, Uzbekistan is set to remain a key contributor to the global agricultural supply chain.
