Kazakhstan has seen a significant boost in its grain exports following the new harvest, which has reached a record 26.6 million tons—56% higher than in 2023. This remarkable increase highlights the country’s expanding role as a key player in the global agricultural market.
Between September and October, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the national railway operator, successfully transported 1.8 million tons of grain for export, marking a 48% increase compared to the same period last year. A large portion of this grain went to key regional markets, including Uzbekistan, which imported 738,000 tons (49% more than last year), and Tajikistan, which received 298,000 tons (48% increase). Exports to China, Afghanistan, Iran, and Kyrgyzstan also saw notable growth.
Looking ahead, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture expects continued expansion in grain exports, with a focus on both traditional markets and new destinations. The country plans to export around 12 million tons in the coming months, targeting regions like Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil, and Malaysia, alongside its established markets in Central Asia and Afghanistan.
Kazakhstan’s strong grain export performance is reinforcing its position as a vital supplier in global trade, fostering new economic partnerships and strengthening existing relationships.
