Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports to South Korea and Thailand have witnessed remarkable growth in the first quarter of this year, signaling a promising start for the country's agricultural trade. The Republic of Korea (RoK) recorded imports of Vietnamese produce valued at US$67.7 million, marking a substantial increase of 59.3% compared to the previous year. Similarly, exports to Thailand surged, reaching US$47.6 million, representing a remarkable 112% growth year-on-year.
March emerged as a particularly robust month for Vietnam's fruit and vegetable sector, with exports totaling US$470 million. This figure signifies a notable uptick of 44.3% from February and a 12.4% rise compared to the same period last year. The impressive performance in March contributed to a first-quarter export turnover of US$1.3 billion for the sector, marking a significant 30% increase from the previous year. Noteworthy is the milestone achievement of surpassing the US$1 billion mark in export value for the first quarter, indicating substantial growth potential.
While China remains the largest market for Vietnamese fruit and vegetables, with imports totaling US$759.4 million, other markets have shown robust growth as well. The United States, for instance, witnessed a notable increase in imports, amounting to US$67.7 million, marking a 33.9% rise from the previous year.
