Thailand is advancing its agricultural trade through a strategic collaboration with Shanghai Taihuixuan Technology Co., Ltd., marking a significant milestone for the country’s export sector. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and the Marketing Organization for Farmers (MOF) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on November 15, 2024, to launch “THAI MALL” on leading Chinese e-commerce platforms.

This forward-looking initiative aims to expand the reach of Thailand’s premium agricultural products to major Chinese economic centers, including Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong SAR. The project is set to generate sales of 200–1,000 million yuan ($27–138 million) in its first year, driven by the high demand for Thai fruits like durian, mangosteen, and longan. From January to October, these fruits achieved exports exceeding 130 billion baht ($3.74 billion), underscoring their global appeal.

MOF will focus on ensuring the consistent supply of top-quality Thai produce to meet Chinese market expectations. Shanghai Taihuixuan will provide robust support through its expertise in online commerce, logistics, and warehousing. The collaboration also sets a goal of establishing at least 10 branded Thai stores in China by September 2025, with a five-year revenue target of $1 billion (35 billion baht).

This initiative aligns with Thailand’s strategic focus on integrating its agricultural sector with global trade opportunities, leveraging e-commerce to meet international demand. Shanghai Taihuixuan Chairman Mr. Chen Zhifa highlighted the strong recognition of Thai agricultural products in China and emphasized the partnership’s role in unlocking new economic opportunities.
