In the first half of 2024, Qatar experienced a significant 14.2% increase in imports of Jordanian dates compared to the same period in 2023. According to recent data from the Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority, Qatar imported around 70 tons of Jordanian dates from January to June 2024, up from 60 tons during the same period last year.

This rise underscores the strengthening trade relationship between Qatar and Jordan and highlights the growing cooperation in various economic sectors. Trade experts and date importers in Qatar attribute the increase to the high quality and appeal of Jordanian dates, particularly the Medjool variety, known for its exceptional taste and premium quality. Barhi dates also remain popular among consumers.

Jordanian dates are highly valued in the Qatari market for their quality and competitive pricing, meeting rigorous food safety standards. This preference for Jordanian dates reflects their superior quality compared to many other imported varieties.

Dates are a key agricultural product for Jordan, with both production and export volumes showing annual growth. The Gulf Cooperation Council countries, including Qatar, are major markets for Jordanian dates, highlighting the region’s significant demand for this sought-after commodity.
