Jordan’s agricultural exports have reached an impressive milestone, achieving their highest levels in five years as the sector capitalizes on growing international demand for high-quality produce. By the end of October, fruit and vegetable exports hit 522,000 tons, a 17% increase compared to the previous year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. This achievement brings Jordan’s exports to 99% of the projected target for 2023, setting a strong foundation for continued expansion in 2024.
Among the standout products, date exports have shown exceptional growth, especially to the UK market, which now accounts for 17% of Jordan’s total date exports—a remarkable 190% increase. This surge is part of Jordan’s strategic push to enter premium markets by prioritizing quality and regional distinction, positioning the country as a competitive supplier on the global stage.
Livestock exports are also flourishing, with sheep exports reaching 704,000 heads, a 141% jump that signals Jordan’s strength in meeting rising demand for quality livestock. In addition, tomato exports have entered new markets, including Egypt and Yemen, supported by government-led initiatives under the National Sustainable Agriculture Plan.
These advancements reflect Jordan’s commitment to growing its trade footprint and enhancing export quality. Through targeted investments in sustainable practices, improved post-harvest techniques, and new trade agreements, Jordan is building its reputation as a reliable source of premium agricultural products. This success highlights the country’s evolving role in global markets, where Jordanian produce is increasingly recognized for its quality and value.
