Vincent Matenya- Member of the Business Council for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)

Vincent Matenya serves as an Investor Services Officer at the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest), a statutory body charged with the mandate of promoting and facilitating investments in Kenya. His role involves spearheading efforts to attract and retain foreign direct investment by providing support through the entire investment process, from inception to aftercare services, as well as coordinating promotional activities both locally and globally.

Matenya’s journey with KenInvest commenced in 2022 as an intern through the public service internship program. His diverse background, including previous roles within various government entities like the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), equipped him with a unique set of skills ideal for his current position. His leadership abilities, adept communication skills, and a keen interest in foreign direct investment have been instrumental in his contributions to the organization.

Throughout his tenure, Matenya has played a pivotal role in registering and facilitating the operations of multimillion-dollar companies in Kenya. His efforts have not only bolstered local and international business ventures but also positioned him as a proud member of the International Trade Council.

The investor facilitation at KenInvest has seen significant improvements in efficiency and effectiveness with Matenya on board, particularly with the operations at the One Stop Center at the authority. Despite facing challenges such as government directives and restrictions on investment, he remains optimistic about the future, envisioning KenInvest as a leading investment promotion and facilitation agency within Kenya and beyond.

With an eye on emerging technologies, Matenya is particularly excited about the integration of online services that promise to enhance the investor experience by improving operational efficiency. His advice to those interested in entering the field is clear: KenInvest is the place to be for those passionate about foreign direct investment and the broader scope of investment promotion and facilitation.

In facing setbacks and challenges, Matenya advocates for a strategy of reevaluation and brainstorming, ensuring that every obstacle is an opportunity for growth and innovation. Inspired by the likes of Nelson Mandela, Warren Buffett and Rt. Hon.Raila Amollo Odinga, he aspires to make significant contributions to Kenya’s economic development.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Matenya dedicates his time to coaching football for children aged 7-14 in his local community. His commitment extends to participating in community cleaning initiatives and providing educational support to underprivileged children, highlighting his deep-seated belief in giving back to society.
