Ecuador has achieved a significant milestone in international trade by successfully exporting its first shipment of Hass avocados and red dragon fruit to Argentina. This development strengthens Ecuador’s presence in global markets and opens new opportunities for its agricultural sector.

The shipment, consisting of 24 tonnes of Hass avocados and 11.5 tonnes of red dragon fruit, reflects the country’s commitment to expanding trade partnerships. The collaboration between the public and private sectors, led by Agrocalidad, has played a key role in ensuring high-quality standards and seamless market entry.

Ecuador’s fruit industry continues to thrive, with over 7,000 hectares dedicated to avocado production and more than 8,000 hectares for dragon fruit cultivation. In 2024, the country exported 2,788 tonnes of avocados to 12 markets and 47,798 tonnes of dragon fruit to 20 destinations. With Argentina now added to its export portfolio, Ecuador is well-positioned to enhance trade volumes and strengthen economic growth.

This milestone underscores Ecuador’s growing influence in the global fruit trade, providing valuable opportunities for producers and reinforcing the nation’s role as a key agricultural exporter.
