Zimbabwe Revenue Authority: Fighting Counterfeit & Crime Globally

About the Publication

Published Date: December 2024

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority – Customs and Excise Division (ZIMRA-CED) is pivotal in ensuring transparent, secure trade practices in Zimbabwe. By publishing the Zimbabwe Customs Tariff Handbook and launching an efficient online customs declaration portal, ZIMRA-CED strengthens transparency and accountability. In collaboration with the World Customs Organization (WCO), ZIMRA-CED standardizes data exchange to combat counterfeit goods more effectively.

International cooperation has further empowered ZIMRA-CED through agreements with neighboring countries, like South Africa, enhancing intelligence sharing. Legal reforms, including the Customs and Excise (Amendment) Act, provide the authority with advanced tools to detect smuggling. Sustainability is a priority, with paperless clearance systems and energy-efficient facilities reducing the environmental footprint. ZIMRA-CED also actively raises public awareness about counterfeit dangers through campaigns and training programs.
