In a significant stride towards enhancing global trade efficiency, ASYCUDAWorld, the flagship software backed by UN Trade and Development, unveils its latest version, 4.4. With over 100 economies set to benefit, this upgrade marks a pivotal moment in customs management worldwide.
ASYCUDA, renowned for its integrated and automated customs data system, stands as a cornerstone of technical cooperation under the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Version 4.4's introduction promises to streamline trade processes and bolster economic growth.
Shamika N. Sirimanne, Director of Technology and Logistics at UN Trade and Development, highlights the cutting-edge IT capabilities of ASYCUDAWorld 4.4, designed to ensure the reliability and security of international trade. Developed collaboratively with user countries, this upgrade adheres to international standards and best practices.
A standout feature of ASYCUDAWorld 4.4 is its data-driven risk management capabilities. The implementation of "dynamic selectivity" allows for efficient fraud detection and targeted customs inspections, enhancing trade security.
Furthermore, the software update enhances data collection and reporting, empowering governments with comprehensive customs data for informed policy decisions. An updated graphic interface improves user experience, simplifying data compilation and trade statistics generation.
In terms of compliance, the upgrade seamlessly integrates with the standards of the International Air Transport Association, facilitating the provision of accurate information by airlines and logistics operators. The software's flexibility allows for customization by user countries without extensive technical support, furthering progress towards paperless trade.
For over 40 years, the ASYCUDA program has played a crucial role in digitizing and expediting customs clearance processes across more than 100 user countries, including many vulnerable economies. ASYCUDAWorld is already operational in 38 least developed countries, 23 landlocked developing countries, and 41 small island developing states.
The upcoming Global Supply Chain Forum, scheduled between 21 and 24 May, will delve deeper into best practices and efficiency gains associated with using the ASYCUDAWorld software.
Currently, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is in the process of upgrading to ASYCUDAWorld 4.4 with support from UN Trade and Development, with more user countries expected to follow suit in 2024 and beyond.
