Australian wine exports demonstrated remarkable growth in 2024, with total export value increasing by 34% to AUD 2.55 billion and volume rising by 7% to 649 million liters. This positive momentum reflects the industry’s adaptability and the strong demand for Australian wines in international markets. A key factor behind this expansion was the removal of tariffs on Australian bottled wine in Mainland China, which helped drive a surge in shipments. Between April and December 2024, exports to China reached 83 million liters, generating AUD 902 million in revenue. The premium appeal of Australian wines remained strong, with the average value of exports to China climbing to AUD 10.79 per liter, setting a new benchmark for packaged wine exports.

While global demand continues to evolve, Australian wine producers are successfully navigating changing market dynamics by focusing on quality, market expansion, and strategic partnerships. Despite some fluctuations, industry leaders remain optimistic about the long-term growth potential of Australian wine in Asia and beyond. Key markets across North America and Europe continue to provide opportunities, with emerging demand in regions such as Sweden, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, and Poland contributing to overall trade resilience.

Looking ahead, the industry’s commitment to market diversification and premium product positioning is expected to drive continued success. With a strong global reputation and a focus on innovation, Australian wine exports are well-positioned to capture new growth opportunities, reinforcing their status as a key player in the international trade landscape.
