The International Trade Council acknowledges the recent developments in Ukraine’s maritime trade. We have received information that five additional vessels are navigating to Ukrainian sea ports. This initiative comes as a part of an alternative mechanism to the Black Sea grain deal which faced challenges earlier.
The five vessels, namely OLGA, IDA, DANNY BOY, FORZA DORIA, and NEW LEGACY, are set to transport approximately 120,000 metric tons of Ukrainian grain destined primarily for African and European markets. This was shared by Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov.
In addition, three bulk carriers, Azara, Ying Hao 01, and Eneida, departed Ukrainian ports today. These carriers, leveraging a temporary route established by the Ukrainian Navy, are transporting an aggregate of 127,000 tons consisting of agricultural products and iron ore.
It’s pertinent to mention that these maritime movements are part of the efforts initiated by Kyiv after the establishment of a temporary “humanitarian corridor”. This action was in response to challenges related to safe passage for Ukraine’s exports.
