Vietnam’s fruit export industry has achieved a remarkable milestone, reaching $7.15 billion in 2024. This strong performance highlights the country’s growing influence in international trade, driven by rising demand for durian, coconuts, longans, pomelos, and mangoes. With shipments expanding to over 60 markets, Vietnam continues to strengthen its position as a key player in global agricultural exports.
A key factor in this growth has been the successful establishment of official export agreements, ensuring stable trade flows and enhanced market access. China remains a major destination, with durian becoming the second-largest fruit import in the country. Additionally, Vietnamese fruit exports to the U.S. increased by over 30%, while shipments to Thailand surged by more than 80%, demonstrating the sector’s increasing global reach.
Durian has emerged as a flagship export, generating nearly $3.3 billion in revenue and accounting for almost 50% of the total fruit and vegetable exports in 2024. This success has created new opportunities for Vietnamese farmers and exporters, further boosting the nation’s agricultural trade.
With the industry surpassing initial targets, exporters are now aiming for $8 billion in 2025 and setting their sights on reaching $10 billion in the near future. To maintain this momentum, industry leaders are focusing on improved production management and expanding into processed fruit products, which currently represent less than 14% of total export revenue. As global demand for convenient and health-conscious food options rises, Vietnam is well-positioned to capitalize on this opportunity and drive further trade growth.
Vietnam’s agricultural sector continues to play a vital role in international trade, contributing to economic expansion and strengthening global supply chains. With a commitment to quality and innovation, the country is set to achieve even greater success in the years ahead.
