Morocco has set a new benchmark in agricultural exports, with its orange juice shipments soaring to over 11,000 tons within the first nine months of 2024, valued at more than $18 million. This achievement represents a remarkable growth of 3.5 times compared to the same period in 2023 and exceeds the record export volume of 2019 by 9%. Morocco is on track to deliver the highest volume of orange juice to global markets in the past five years.

This surge in exports comes at a pivotal time, as a decline in orange production in Brazil, the world’s leading exporter, has opened opportunities for Morocco to meet the rising demand in international markets, especially within the European Union. The Netherlands has become the largest importer of Moroccan orange juice, receiving 8,200 tons in 2024, followed by Switzerland, France, Germany, and Senegal.

Europe now accounts for 96% of Morocco’s orange juice exports, a significant jump from previous years. This shift reflects the growing strength of Morocco’s trade ties with European nations and its increasing role in the global orange juice market. The success of Moroccan exports underscores the country’s resilience and ability to adapt to changing market dynamics.

As one of Africa’s largest orange producers, Morocco continues to solidify its position as a key player in global trade. The country’s impressive recovery from production setbacks in 2023 highlights its capacity to meet the demands of a thriving international market, boosting trade and economic growth.

This achievement is a testament to the expanding global trade opportunities for Moroccan agricultural products, offering a bright future for the nation’s export sector.
