The World Trade Organization (WTO) has announced the commencement of the application process for its 2025 Young Professionals Programme (YPP). Individuals up to the age of 32 as of January 1, 2025, hailing from eligible developing economies and least-developed countries (LDCs), are encouraged to submit their applications by April 2, 2024.

Selected candidates will have the opportunity to work within the WTO Secretariat for a duration of one year, commencing in January 2025. The YPP, administered by the WTO’s Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation (ITTC) and supported by the Global Trust Fund, serves as a vital technical assistance initiative. It offers qualified young professionals from WTO member states with limited professional representation in the Secretariat the chance to deepen their understanding of WTO principles and bolster their skills in addressing global trade matters.

The Programme’s overarching goal is to broaden the pool of professionals from these member states while providing participants with invaluable practical experience. Graduates of the YPP have transitioned into roles within international organizations, national governments, and the private sector, specializing in multilateral diplomacy and global trade.

Successful candidates, known as Young Professionals (YPs), will be assigned to specific divisions within the WTO Secretariat, aligning with the organization’s priorities and their individual areas of interest. Over the course of a year, YPs will immerse themselves in the Secretariat’s activities, gaining insights into its operations and actively contributing to its mandates.

The online application form is available on the WTO e-Recruitment website, providing aspiring YPs with a streamlined process to apply for this prestigious opportunity.

Since its inception in 2016, a total of 109 professionals have participated in the Programme, underscoring its significance in nurturing emerging talent within the realm of international trade.
