With a wealth of experience, Akram has left an indelible mark on the business landscape.
As the President and CEO of Dallata Trading Group, a versatile company specializing in general trading and business consulting, Akram has played a pivotal role in shaping the industry. His journey in this field spans over three decades, during which he worked in various capacities, including business consulting, financial consulting, and general trading, across multiple countries. This rich and diverse experience culminated in the founding of Dallata, a hub for businesses seeking expert consultancy services.
Akram’s educational background further solidifies his expertise. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, an MA in International Finance and an MBA in Business Administration with a Minor in Marketing, from the University of Cambridge. As well as a PhD in Economics (Environmental Economics) from the University of Toronto. These qualifications have undoubtedly contributed to his illustrious career.
One of Akram’s notable accomplishments includes his involvement with Duke Energy USA, where he participated in several projects, including a solar project in the Mojave desert. However, he takes immense pride in the remarkable growth of Dallata, which was recognized by PROFIT 200 in 2012 as the third-fastest-growing company in Canada, achieving a staggering 10,000% growth in just five years.
Throughout his career, Akram has witnessed a significant evolution in the industry. Initially, the need for consultants was minimal, as industries relied on their internal knowledge. However, over time, the value of consultants became increasingly apparent, leading to better and faster results in various fields.
The industry currently faces challenges posed by the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in place of standard human labor. However, Akram envisions continued growth for the consultancy sector, driven by its essential role in today’s business landscape. Furthermore, expanding into regions such as Africa and South America, which offer untapped opportunities, will further boost the consultancy field’s growth.
Akram is particularly excited about the introduction of AI in consulting. Dallata is pioneering an AI project involving multiple countries, businesses, schools, and individuals, with the aim of simplifying various occupations using AI, revolutionizing how consulting services are delivered.
For those embarking on a career in consultancy, Akram offers sage advice: “Consultancy is not about how you handle businesses; it is about how you handle people within the business.”
In dealing with setbacks and challenges, Akram emphasizes a systematic approach, breaking down problems into manageable pieces and steadily working towards solutions. His role model and inspiration in this field is his father, Qassim Hamid.
Beyond his professional life, Akram’s interests span from flying and skydiving to football. These pursuits reflect his adventurous spirit and zest for life.
