Uttar Pradesh is poised to export 40 tons of mangoes to Japan and Malaysia. This announcement was made during the inauguration of the UP Mango Festival 2024 at Awadh Shilp Gram.
In a significant milestone for the region, Uttar Pradesh will also export Dussehri mangoes to the United States for the first time in 160 years. The economic benefits of this initiative are notable, with domestic prices for Dussehri mangoes ranging from Rs 60 to 100 per kilogram, while the export price to the US market is significantly higher at Rs 900 per kilogram. Despite the substantial costs associated with duties, cargo, and airfare—estimated between Rs 250-300 per kilogram—farmers and gardeners are projected to earn approximately Rs 600 for every kilogram exported.
This development is expected to boost the region's economy and showcase the global appeal of Uttar Pradesh's mangoes.
