The State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan (SCC) is the primary body enforcing customs and trade laws in Uzbekistan. With a robust approach to combating counterfeit goods and transnational crime, SCC has introduced several initiatives to bolster trade legitimacy. These initiatives include establishing transparency through an informative website and an online portal for customs declarations, which enhances efficiency in the clearance process. Additionally, SCC launched a public awareness campaign in 2022 to educate the public on the dangers of counterfeit goods.
SCC’s international cooperation efforts include partnerships with neighboring countries, such as Kazakhstan, to combat cross-border crime. The agency is also active in the World Customs Organization (WCO), participating in regional workshops on counterfeiting. In 2022, Uzbekistan enacted a Customs Code that strengthened SCC’s ability to prevent crime using advanced technology. Furthermore, SCC is committed to sustainable development with a paperless clearance system, energy-efficient systems, and solar panel installations. The agency’s efforts, including blockchain-based tracking systems and capacity building, ensure it remains a key player in global trade and security.
