The Turkish Customs and Trade Ministry plays a crucial role in combating counterfeit goods and transnational crime in Turkey. As the primary agency responsible for enforcing customs and trade laws, the Ministry has introduced various measures to prevent the flow of counterfeit goods. This includes the launch of a public awareness campaign on the dangers of counterfeit goods and the implementation of an online portal for submitting customs declarations, which has improved efficiency and transparency in the clearance process.

In addition to national efforts, the Ministry has strengthened international cooperation by signing agreements with neighboring countries and participating in regional workshops on counterfeiting. The enactment of the 2022 Customs Law enhanced the Ministry’s powers to combat counterfeit trade. The Ministry has also integrated sustainable practices, including paperless clearance systems and solar panel projects, to reduce its environmental impact. Moreover, the introduction of blockchain technology for tracking goods’ origins and the establishment of a dedicated anti-counterfeiting unit have contributed to the effective fight against counterfeit goods, resulting in the seizure of over 10,000 counterfeit items in 2023.
