Published Date: December 2024

The Thai Customs Department has taken a strong stance in combating counterfeit and transnational crime, ensuring that customs and tax laws are strictly enforced. To enhance transparency, the Department launched an online portal for submitting customs declarations and provides essential information on customs procedures and regulations. Its public awareness campaigns aim to educate citizens about the dangers of counterfeit goods and the importance of complying with customs laws. The Department has also strengthened international cooperation through agreements with neighboring countries and participation in regional workshops on combating counterfeiting.

In recent years, the Department has made significant strides with legal reforms, such as the 2022 Customs Act, which provides stricter penalties for customs offenses and introduces advanced technologies for detection. Additionally, the Department has prioritized sustainability by reducing paper use and implementing energy-efficient systems. It has also focused on trade facilitation, introducing a risk-based clearance system and a single window for document submission. The Department’s fight against counterfeit goods remains a top priority, with dedicated units and joint operations with law enforcement agencies leading to significant seizures.
