The Taiwan Customs Administration (TCA) has become a global leader in combating counterfeit goods and transnational crime. As the primary body responsible for enforcing customs laws, TCA has implemented various initiatives to curb the flow of counterfeit products and to streamline trade. The agency launched transparency initiatives like an online portal for customs declarations and a public awareness campaign on the dangers of counterfeit goods. In 2023, TCA participated in a regional workshop organized by the World Customs Organization (WCO) to share best practices in combating counterfeiting.

TCA has also been at the forefront of legal reforms and technological advancements. Taiwan enacted the Customs Act in 2022, enhancing TCA’s authority to tackle transnational crime through stricter penalties and better cooperation with law enforcement agencies. Sustainable initiatives such as a paperless clearance system and solar panel installations at TCA facilities have also been adopted to reduce environmental impact. Additionally, the introduction of blockchain technology for tracking the origin of goods and risk-based customs clearance has improved trade facilitation, reducing time and costs associated with clearing goods.
