The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Pakistan plays a pivotal role in combatting counterfeit and transnational crime. As the primary agency responsible for enforcing customs and tax laws, FBR has implemented key initiatives to curb the flow of counterfeit goods while facilitating legitimate trade. With a strong focus on transparency, FBR has launched online portals for customs declarations, making the process more efficient. In 2022, the agency launched a public awareness campaign to educate the public on the dangers of counterfeit goods and the importance of adhering to customs regulations.

In addition to its local efforts, FBR has strengthened international cooperation through agreements with neighboring countries, including China, to share intelligence and combat cross-border crime. The 2022 Customs Act introduced stricter penalties for customs offenses and enhanced the agency’s ability to detect smuggling using advanced technologies like blockchain. Through its commitment to sustainable development, FBR has adopted a paperless system and launched solar panel projects to reduce its carbon footprint, showcasing its dedication to environmental responsibility. The agency continues to lead efforts in reducing counterfeit goods and enhancing trade facilitation.
