Abel Ago

Chief Executive Officer

LELEADER Group

Abel Ago is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of LELEADER GROUP, a diversified African conglomerate established in 2014. Based in Cotonou, Benin, Mr Ago oversees the strategic direction of the group, which operates seven subsidiaries across four countries, bridging international trade corridors between Africa and global markets, particularly China. He manages the group’s extensive portfolio, which spans international trade, logistics, manufacturing, infrastructure, and e-commerce.

An entrepreneurial leader, Mr Ago established his first business at the age of 25. He subsequently relocated to China, residing in the port city of Ningbo to pursue a doctoral degree while simultaneously building his international business operations. His significant contributions to bilateral trade led to him being named an honorary citizen of Ningbo, a city twinned with Cotonou. Mr Ago possesses deep expertise in cross-border supply chains, logistics, and trade finance. He has frequently emphasised the necessity of cross-functional collaboration between logistics and financial sectors to resolve complex trade challenges, and his understanding of the barriers young entrepreneurs face when accessing funding without guarantees inspired his company’s investment and funding initiatives.

Organisation

LELEADER GROUP is a dynamic multi-sector conglomerate that connects African markets with global supply chains. Originally founded as an import-export business, the group has expanded within a decade to manage seven specialised subsidiaries, including Leleader Shipping and Logistics, Leleader Trading and Services, and Leleader Consulting China. Headquartered in Benin, the organisation operates physical offices in Benin, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Africa, with distribution activities extending into Namibia. Its infrastructure assets include the 85,690-square-metre Leleader Industrial Park in Togoudo, Benin, and the group also runs LeleaderShop, a B2B e-commerce platform for wholesale construction materials. The company’s achievements in driving economic integration were recognised with a nomination for the Go Global Awards 2025.
