Kofi Kankam

President & Chief Executive Officer

Elizka Relief Foundation

Kofi Kankam serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Elizka Relief Foundation, a prominent non-governmental organisation based in Ghana. In this leadership capacity, Mr Kankam is responsible for directing the strategic vision, operational execution, and international engagement of the foundation. He oversees the development of capacity-building programmes and human empowerment initiatives designed to foster socio-economic self-determination and environmental resilience among vulnerable demographics.

Under Mr Kankam’s stewardship, the foundation has established a significant global footprint by securing formal accreditations and observer statuses with numerous prestigious international bodies. His work involves bridging the gap between high-level global policy frameworks and localised, research-driven field interventions. By managing strategic pathways for cross-sectoral and geographical collaboration, he ensures that the foundation’s grass-roots initiatives align with international standards in sustainable development, climate action, and social equity.

Mr Kankam’s executive responsibilities extend to representing the foundation within global governance forums. Since 2015, the organisation has maintained Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). He guides the foundation’s contributions to major international environmental and social conventions, leveraging these platforms to advocate for policies that empower marginalised communities and integrate sustainable economic practices into regional development agendas.

Organisation

Elizka Relief Foundation is a legally registered Ghanaian non-governmental organisation dedicated to capacity building, human empowerment, and sustainable development. Based at the USTED Campus in Kumasi, the foundation operates at the intersection of humanitarian aid, environmental advocacy, and socio-economic policy. The organisation holds accredited Observer status with multiple global institutions, including the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and the World Health Organisation (WHO) CSOs Commission. Through these affiliations, the foundation actively influences international frameworks concerning climate finance, disaster reduction, and environmental protection, implementing localised solutions that address global challenges.

Areas of Focus

  • Sustainable development and socio-economic empowerment for vulnerable populations.
  • Capacity building and the integration of research-driven field interventions into regional policy.
  • International environmental policy, climate finance, and global climate advocacy frameworks.
  • Cross-sectoral collaboration and strategic partnership development across geographical boundaries.

At the Forum

At the International Trade Council Global Convocation & Leadership Forum in London, Mr Kankam aims to explore how international trade policy and sustainable development frameworks can be harmonised to support emerging markets. He seeks to engage with business leaders, trade officials, and policymakers to discuss the intersection of climate finance, environmental standards, and economic empowerment. By participating in sessions at the House of Lords and Guildhall, Mr Kankam intends to forge strategic partnerships that enhance supply chain resilience and promote inclusive trade policies that benefit vulnerable communities in Ghana and the wider African continent.
