China and Kazakhstan have taken another step forward in deepening their bilateral relationship, as President Xi Jinping and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met in Astana on June 16, 2025. The high-level dialogue resulted in the signing of multiple cooperation documents spanning trade, investment, technology, tourism, and customs facilitation, according to China’s official news agency.
During the meeting, both leaders emphasized the importance of multilateralism and collaboration in advancing the interests of developing nations. Notably, President Xi highlighted the mutual benefits of expanding cross-border railway development and enhancing port infrastructure – key initiatives aimed at improving regional connectivity and facilitating seamless trade.
The agenda also included discussions on deepening economic ties, strengthening technological partnerships, and streamlining customs procedures to support smoother supply chain operations between the two countries.
In line with global trade priorities, the two nations reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful cooperation, regional stability, and collaborative growth, particularly through expanding exchanges in law enforcement, security protocols, and counter-extremism efforts.
The outcomes of this meeting signal a shared ambition to build a more interconnected and prosperous Central Asian trade corridor, reinforcing China and Kazakhstan’s roles as pivotal players in Eurasian economic development.
