Integrated Empowerment Initiatives
Neema Mleli – Member of the Business Council for Women in International Trade
Neema Mleli is the CEO and Co-Founder of Integrated Empowerment Initiatives (IEI), an organization dedicated to fostering economic development and empowerment through entrepreneurship, SME growth, and capacity-building programs, particularly for women and youth. Under her leadership, IEI supports sustainable development by offering training in agriculture, trade, leadership, and community development. Neema is also a key leader in youth and health empowerment, steering programs that enhance leadership skills and public health initiatives in Tanzania and beyond. She is a passionate advocate for gender equality and sustainable development, committed to breaking down barriers that limit women’s access to resources and opportunities.
Neema’s journey into the economic development sector was inspired by the challenges she witnessed among women entrepreneurs, many of whom lacked access to information, mentorship, and market resources. Recognizing the potential for growth, she established IEI to provide crucial support, training, and pathways for women and youth to reach their full potential. Through this platform, she addresses the high youth unemployment rate by providing leadership programs that equip young people with the skills needed to succeed in today’s market.
With over 15 years of experience in program management and community development, Neema has dedicated her career to improving health systems, economic opportunities, and social inclusion. As Vice President of African Women in Herbs, Spices, and Natural Products, she leads initiatives to empower women entrepreneurs and standardize industry practices. In addition, as the Executive Director of Global Chamber Tanzania, Neema connects local businesses to international markets, facilitating global trade opportunities. Her work with business councils such as Women in International Trade and her involvement with the International Trade Council further underscore her dedication to creating international business networks and partnerships that drive economic growth.
Neema’s expertise in entrepreneurship, export readiness, and program design has resulted in the launch of successful initiatives that benefit local communities. Her contributions to strengthening health systems, expanding digital access, and advocating for gender equity have had a profound impact on economic development in Tanzania. Neema is committed to building a healthier, more inclusive, and prosperous future, empowering individuals to lead and drive positive change across sectors. Her vision for the industry is one of collaboration, sustainability, and innovation, where gender equality and youth empowerment are prioritized, fostering a supportive ecosystem for emerging leaders.
