The Senegalese Customs Administration (SCA) is at the forefront of trade facilitation and customs modernization in the region. By introducing initiatives such as a single window system, traders can now submit all necessary documents through a single online portal, reducing the time and cost of clearing goods. Additionally, the SCA’s adoption of a risk-based approach to customs clearance ensures efficient processing by fast-tracking low-risk goods and focusing more on high-risk items, reducing the risk of smuggling.
SCA has also implemented automated customs systems and paperless clearance procedures, enhancing operational efficiency and minimizing errors. The agency has strengthened its international cooperation by being a member of the World Customs Organization (WCO) and signing agreements with neighboring countries. In addition, the SCA has made significant investments in capacity building by offering training programs on customs enforcement, risk management, and trade facilitation. Public awareness initiatives, such as brochures and a dedicated customs hotline, further educate stakeholders on the importance of complying with customs regulations and combating counterfeit goods.
