The Argentina Administración Federal de Ingresos Públicos (AFIP) – Dirección General de Aduanas (DGA) has been at the forefront of combating counterfeit goods and transnational crime. As the primary agency responsible for enforcing customs and excise laws, AFIP-DGA has implemented a range of initiatives to prevent counterfeit goods and facilitate legitimate trade. These include transparency measures like a dedicated website and an online customs declaration portal, improving both efficiency and trust among stakeholders. AFIP-DGA’s public awareness campaigns have further bolstered its efforts, educating the public about the dangers of counterfeit goods and the importance of customs compliance.

Internationally, AFIP-DGA collaborates extensively with neighboring countries and is an active member of the World Customs Organization (WCO). Its cooperation includes intelligence sharing and coordinated operations to combat cross-border crime, such as the agreement with Brazil’s Federal Revenue Service. Legal reforms, such as the 2022 Customs Code, have empowered AFIP-DGA with advanced technologies and new legal tools to strengthen its enforcement. Sustainable development initiatives, including a paperless system and energy-efficient measures, align with its mission of reducing environmental impact while facilitating trade.
