About the Publication

Published Date: December 2024

The Ukrainian Customs Service plays a pivotal role in combating counterfeit and transnational crime within Ukraine, as the primary agency responsible for enforcing customs and trade laws. The agency has introduced various initiatives to prevent the flow of counterfeit goods, including an online portal for submitting customs declarations and a public awareness campaign. These efforts have promoted transparency, efficiency, and greater public understanding of the importance of complying with customs regulations.

In addition to domestic efforts, the Ukrainian Customs Service has strengthened its international cooperation by partnering with countries such as Poland to share intelligence and coordinate cross-border enforcement efforts. The Customs Code, enacted in 2022, further empowered the agency with advanced technologies and stricter penalties for customs offenses. The agency has also implemented sustainable practices, such as a paperless clearance system and the installation of solar panels to reduce its environmental impact. In 2023, the service seized over 5,000 counterfeit goods worth UAH 10 million, showcasing its commitment to preventing counterfeit trade and enhancing security.
