Abdikadir Adan

Abdikadir Adan serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Frontier Optical Networks, a prominent Tier-2 licensed telecommunications provider in Kenya. In this capacity, he leads the strategic direction and operational execution of a company that designs, builds, and manages its own proprietary fibre optic network infrastructure. His leadership ensures the delivery of robust connectivity solutions, ranging from fast home and business internet to wholesale transit capacity for carriers across the nation.

 

Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive Officer, Mr Adan held the position of Chief Information Officer at the same organisation. Drawing upon his extensive background as a Strategic ICT Specialist, he has been instrumental in developing digital infrastructure that supports modern trade logistics and cross-border financial services. His technical expertise and strategic vision have guided the company in maintaining secure and resilient data pathways, which are monitored continuously from a dedicated Network Operations Centre.

 

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Mr Adan is a strong advocate for the alignment of telecommunications infrastructure with global export growth. He actively champions the removal of technical barriers to trade and promotes foreign direct investment into the African information and communication technology sector. Under his stewardship, Frontier Optical Networks also became a signatory to the Global Compact Network Kenya in August 2022, reflecting his commitment to sustainable and transparent business practices.

Founded in 2009 and headquartered at the Rivaan Centre in Nairobi, Frontier Optical Networks is a leading Kenyan telecommunications and fibre operator. The firm operates exclusively within Kenya, providing comprehensive network coverage across all 47 counties through metro rings in major towns and long-haul routes to the coast. By controlling its own physical assets, the company delivers high-speed business and dedicated internet connections, bundled television services featuring over 125 channels, and wholesale transit capacity. This proprietary infrastructure provides a stable and secure foundation for the digital economy in East Africa, facilitating the transparent data flows essential for modern international trade.

He aims to advocate for increased foreign direct investment into the African ICT sector and to share insights on ensuring that global data networks remain as resilient and transparent as the physical trade they support.
