Sam Ekuban Awoodzie
Brick & Tile Manufacturers of Ghana
Sam Ekuban Awoodzie serves as the Executive Secretary and primary representative for the Brick & Tile Manufacturers of Ghana. In this capacity, he leads the association’s strategic efforts to represent local clay brick and tile producers, with a primary focus on building capacity to improve product quality and skilled workmanship within the manufacturing sector. He plays a vital role in sustaining the supply of essential building materials for housing and infrastructure projects, while actively engaging with both public and private sector stakeholders to stimulate demand for indigenous construction solutions.
Under Mr Awoodzie’s stewardship, the association has formalised critical partnerships with the Building and Road Research Institute, the Ghana Standards Authority, and the Ghana Geological Survey Authority to ensure that all member products adhere to the highest technical standards. He oversees a diverse membership that includes not only manufacturers but also architects, engineers, and project managers, ensuring a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to project execution. His commitment to the sector is further evidenced by his oversight of community initiatives, such as the 2019 construction of public infrastructure at Kimbu Gardens to demonstrate the durability and quality of local clay materials.
Mr Awoodzie is a proponent of technical excellence and has been instrumental in ensuring that the association’s products, including burnt bricks and ceramic tiles, hold verified clay characterisation test reports from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research. His expertise lies in bridging the gap between raw material extraction and high-end architectural application, fostering an environment where local manufacturing can compete with international imports. He is particularly focused on the intersection of project management and international business as a means to drive sectoral growth and industrial resilience.
