The Servicio Nacional de Aduanas del Ecuador (SENAE) plays a critical role in combating counterfeit goods and transnational crime in Ecuador, leading various initiatives to safeguard global trade. Through transparency measures, such as online portals for customs declarations and public awareness campaigns, SENAE fosters accountability and efficiency in customs enforcement. The agency also collaborates internationally, signing agreements with neighboring countries and participating in regional workshops to enhance cross-border cooperation.

In addition to strengthening legal frameworks with the new Customs Code, SENAE has embraced sustainable practices by reducing its environmental impact and promoting paperless systems. Its recent focus on blockchain technology for tracking goods aims to prevent counterfeiting and smuggling. SENAE’s efforts have led to significant success, including the seizure of counterfeit goods valued at millions of dollars, as well as robust capacity-building programs for its personnel, ensuring the continued success of its anti-crime initiatives.
