Spain’s fruit and vegetable exports have delivered impressive results in the first half of 2024, highlighting the nation’s vital role in global trade. According to data from the Customs Department of the Tax Agency, analyzed by FEPEX, Spain exported 6.65 million tons of fresh produce, marking a 6.32% increase over the same period last year. The total value of these exports reached 10.07 billion euros, reflecting a steady growth of 1.81%.
The fresh vegetable sector led the charge with exports surging to 3.30 million tons, an 8.46% rise. While there was a slight 2.64% dip in value to 4.72 billion euros, the volume growth across key vegetables—such as peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, zucchini, and onions—demonstrates Spain’s resilience and adaptability in meeting global demand. Potatoes, in particular, saw remarkable increases in both volume and value, further boosting the sector’s performance.
The fruit sector also showcased robust growth, with exports reaching 3.35 million tons, a 4.29% increase, and the value climbing by 6.10% to 5.34 billion euros. Strong demand for Spanish strawberries, blueberries, avocados, nectarines, and Paraguayans drove this expansion, underscoring Spain’s ability to capitalize on emerging market trends.
These positive results reflect Spain's growing influence in international agricultural trade, as the country continues to supply high-quality produce to markets around the world. As global demand for fresh fruits and vegetables rises, Spain’s export growth is poised to strengthen trade relationships and contribute to the stability and expansion of the global food supply chain.
