Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit China from June 4 to 8 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, as announced by Pakistan's foreign ministry.
The visit aims to strengthen cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a key initiative within Beijing's Belt and Road framework. Chinese investment and financial support since 2013 have played a vital role in bolstering Pakistan's economy, particularly in managing external financing needs.
"An important aspect of the prime minister's visit will be meetings with corporate executives of leading Chinese companies in sectors such as oil and gas, energy, ICT, and emerging technologies," stated foreign office spokesman Mumtaz Baloch in a press briefing.
During his visit, Prime Minister Sharif will meet with President Xi and hold delegation-level talks with Premier Li Qiang to discuss further collaboration and investment opportunities.
China's investment in Pakistan includes substantial contributions to power projects and road networks under the $65 billion CPEC plan, underscoring the importance of this strategic partnership.
