In the first five months of 2024, Kyrgyzstan's oil product imports from Uzbekistan rose to 2,565 tons, marking a 3.9% increase from the 2,468 tons imported during the same period in 2023. Despite this increase in volume, the total value of these imports decreased by 20.7% year-on-year, from $2.15 million to $1.71 million, according to recent data.
Kyrgyzstan’s top oil product supplier remains a neighboring country, which provided 270,948 tons of oil products during the period. Another neighboring country secured the second position with 42,953 tons, while Uzbekistan’s contribution was notable.
Overall, Kyrgyzstan's total oil product imports from January to May 2024 amounted to 322,175 tons, an 84% increase from 174,760 tons in the same period of 2023. The total value of these imports nearly tripled, reaching $371.47 million compared to $133.89 million in the previous year.
The increase in import volume and value reflects Kyrgyzstan’s expanding demand for oil products and underscores the growing role of regional suppliers in meeting the country’s energy needs.
